The Document Freedom Day - 2010
31st March 2010
OFE - "OpenForum Europe strongly supports the aims of the Document Freedom Day - a worldwide initiative to liberate documents from the software and platforms on which they are created. Genuinely open document formats lie at the very heart of open, competitive ICT markets, limiting the development of monopolistic practices. They encourage the creativity and proliferation of new technologies such as those that help power the new Cloud Computing concepts which depend on full interoperability for success. They encourage the growth in local economies. OpenForum Europe firmly advocates the agreement of a genuinely open "European Interoperability Framework II" and a "European Digital Agenda" both firmly based on Open Standards. The Document Freedom Day is very valuable in bringing these critical issues to the attention of voters and their governments. FSFE - Today is DFD ‘09, global day for document liberation
