Open Standards for a smarter planet - a presentation at this week's OASIS conference in Brussels by Dr Jochen Friedrich, a standards expert at IBM and chairman of OFE's standardization task force.

Jochen Friedrich - Politicians are beginning to recognize the link between open and collaborative computing and the Green agenda. Dr Friedrich argued in his presentation at the OASIS conference that openness not only makes commercial sense, it's also better for achieving innovative and sustainable solutions than traditional IT models. He urged policymakers to require open standards for software interoperability and to pursue proposed reforms of the standards process as a matter of urgency so that the potential benefits of open standards can be realized.
